In a major build-up after the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 26 people, India on Wednesday launched a coordinated military operation called Operation Sindoor at dawn. The Indian Army made public video recordings of the attacks, which were precision missile strikes on terrorist installations deep within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

This aggressive step was a reaction to the failure of any effective counter-terror initiatives on the part of Pakistan, despite undeniable intelligence indicating an the threat from Pakistan-based terror modules, imminent threat.
Dual Briefing by Women Officers
In a very unusual and strong gesture, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh conducted the press briefing on Operation Sindoor. They said, “In the last 3 decades, Pakistan has systematically developed a terror infrastructure. It is an intricate network of recruitment and indoctrination facilities, training sites for initial and refresher courses, and launchpads for handlers. These camps are in both Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK) regions.”
Strategic Message of Deterrence
India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri highlighted the country’s determination to deter and pre-empt further attacks, asserting, “Our intelligence surveillance of Pakistan-based terrorist modules showed that more attacks against India were in the offing.”
Misri further stated that the strikes were intended to take perpetrators of the Pahalgam attack into custody, as Islamabad displayed “no demonstrable” action towards dismantling terror groups on its territory or under its control.
Pakistan Warns of Retaliation
While so, Pakistan’s foreign ministry retaliated, stating the Indian Air Force attacked Muridke, Bahawalpur, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad from within Indian airspace with standoff weapons. The official communiqué warned, “Pakistan reserves the right to respond appropriately at a time and place of its choosing,” indicating possible escalation.
India’s daring action under Operation Sindoor not only gave a tactical defeat to terrorism but also sent out a clear strategic message—terror will not be left unpunished.
