In a decisive overnight operation, the Indian Army launched targeted strikes on nine terrorist hideouts across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) as part of Operation Sindoor. The action was taken in response to the barbaric terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that killed 25 Indian civilians and one Nepali national on April 22.
The operation was conducted between the night of May 6 and 7, with Indian forces launching precision strikes without crossing the border. Sources confirmed that the operation was carefully planned to avoid Pakistani military infrastructure or civilian areas, focusing only on known terror bases.

India’s Official Stand
The Defence Ministry stated, “These steps have been taken in the wake of the barbaric terrorist attack in Pahalgam in which 25 Indians and one Nepali national were killed.” Officials emphasized that the mission was “focused and non-escalatory,” intended solely to neutralize terrorist threats.
Pakistan’s Reaction
Reacting strongly, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said, “Pakistan has every right to respond with force to this act of war by India and it is being responded to strongly.”
Despite the heightened rhetoric from Islamabad, Indian officials reiterated that the operation was a measured response, aimed at preventing further terror activities planned from across the border.
