Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk and US President Donald Trump traded sharp remarks on Thursday in a public feud that took a dramatic turn with an unexpected name drop — Jeffrey Epstein. Musk claimed that Trump’s name was in sealed Epstein files, suggesting that the documents were hidden for that reason.
“Donald Trump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!” Musk posted on his platform X (formerly Twitter) before deleting the post.
Elon Musk Deletes the Post, Adds More Fire
Although the post was removed, the damage was already done. Elon Musk, who left the US administration last month after leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), is now a vocal critic of Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill.” He cited business losses during his government stint as a reason for stepping away.
He added fuel to the fire, encouraging his followers to “mark this post for the future when truth will come out.”
Ackman Appeals for Peace
Amid the escalating drama, billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman stepped in, urging both Musk and Trump to make peace. “We are much stronger together than apart,” Ackman posted. Musk replied, “You’re not wrong.”

According to a POLITICO report, White House aides are working behind the scenes to get Trump to tone down his criticism of Musk. When asked about the online feud, Trump told POLITICO over the phone, “Oh, it’s okay. It’s going very well, never done better.”
Musk Claims He Helped Trump Win
In a pointed remark, Musk asserted that his backing had secured Trump’s election victory. “Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House, and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate.”
Trump responded on Truth Social, “I don’t mind Elon turning against me, but he should have done so months ago.”
