Drones Sighted Over Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab Amid Tensions Post Modi’s Address | Watch

Drones were spotted over Punjab’s Jalandhar and the Samba district in the Jammu and Kashmir region on Monday, raising alarm just hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s national address. This was at a time when there was increased tension, following the induction of Operation Sindoor, which targets Pakistan-based terrorists.

Explosions Heard in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur

Simultaneously, locals in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur district reported hearing 7-8 explosions in the Dasuya area, contributing to the already volatile situation. Authorities quickly enforced a blackout across the affected areas, including the strategic Pathankot region and the Vaishno Devi Bhawan yatra track, in an attempt to prevent further escalation.

PM Modi’s Address: A Strong Warning to Pakistan

In his first speech after the initiation of Operation Sindoor, Prime Minister Modi categorically asserted that India would not accept any kind of “nuclear blackmail” from Pakistan. The Prime Minister made it clear that India’s military action against Pakistan has only been suspended and will be resumed based on Pakistan’s future behavior. Modi’s statement highlighted that Pakistan requested India to suspend operations, but India agreed only after Pakistan committed to halting provocations.

Condemnation of Terrorism and the Pahalgam Attack

Calling the recent Pahalgam attack a “barbaric face of terrorism,” Modi condemned the attack while speaking of personal anguish. He also threatened that the repercussions for those who attack India, especially targeting Indian women, would be severe.

As a part of continued diplomatic moves, India and Pakistan’s Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) completed their talks on Monday. Even though the scheduled hotline call was postponed, indications are that during the meeting, there was an emphasis on the ceasefire pact signed on May 10 to stop military action and cross-border firing. Details about the talks are not being made public.

Operation Sindoor: India’s Military Victory

The Indian Defence Forces, in their regular briefing, assured the public that India’s military bases are safe, fully functional, and ready for any attack. The briefing also reported the success of Operation Sindoor, which saw 11 Pakistani air bases destroyed and heavy damage to Pakistan’s military installations. Indian forces also exchanged artillery fire with Pakistani forces from May 7 to 10, killing 35-40 Pakistani soldiers, according to reports.

Following a series of ceasefire violations by Pakistan, barely a week after a decision to suspend hostilities, this tense standoff has ensued. In response to the violations, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri summoned Pakistan to take the situation with “seriousness” and “responsibility.” The situation remains dynamic as military and diplomatic negotiations continue.
