A strong earthquake measuring 6.6 hit northeast of Angoram, Papua New Guinea, early Wednesday, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reports. The quake was at a depth of 53 kilometers (32.93 miles). There were no immediate reports of damage or loss of lives following the earthquake activity.
