In a decisive military response to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians, the Indian armed forces launched overnight precision strikes on nine terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. The strikes, executed around 1:44 am on Wednesday, were carefully designed to avoid civilian or military targets in Pakistan and focused solely on known terrorist breeding grounds.
Nine Strategic Targets, No Civilian Harm
According to official sources, the targeted locations included Muridke, Bahawalpur, Kotli, Gulpur, Bhimber, Chak Amru, Sialkot, and two areas in Muzaffarabad. Muridke, the headquarters of Lashkar-e-Taiba; Bahawalpur, the base of Masood Azhar’s Jaish-e-Mohammed; and Sialkot, a key infiltration hub, were among the most significant sites hit during the operation.
The Indian Air Force, backed by intelligence inputs, hit four Jaish-e-Mohammed facilities, three Lashkar-e-Taiba camps, and two operated by Hizbul Mujahideen. “India has demonstrated considerable restraint in the selection of targets and method of execution,” the government said in an official statement. “No Pakistani military facilities or civilians have been targeted.”
Tri-Services Coordination and Surgical Precision
Operation Sindoor was a tri-services strike involving the Army, Navy, and Air Force working in complete coordination. The Indian Air Force pilots executed the mission with high precision and returned safely. “All Indian Air Force pilots involved in Operation Sindoor have been accounted for,” IAF sources told Times Now.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had earlier vowed a strong response to the Pahalgam massacre, was reportedly monitoring the 23-minute mission from the war room. The operation, designed to be non-escalatory, sent a clear message to terror groups and their handlers.
Pakistan Acknowledges Strikes
Pakistan confirmed that India struck 24 locations within its territory and in PoK, including sites in Kotli, Muridke, Bahawalpur, and Muzaffarabad. “India struck sites in Kotli, Muridke, Bahawalpur, and Muzaffarabad,” Pakistan’s DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhary stated.
Sialkot, one of the impacted areas, has long served as a base for pushing terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir across the International Border, particularly in regions south of the Pir Panjal range. Since the 2019 Balakot airstrikes, both Lashkar and Jaish have targeted civilians in the Kashmir Valley.
India’s Operation Sindoor stands as one of the most coordinated, precise, and restrained responses to cross-border terrorism in recent years.
