Canada Hands Over Pakistani Man to US for Allegedly Plotting Attack on Jewish Community: Kash Patel

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) confirmed on Tuesday that the United States extradited a Pakistani citizen living in Canada on charges of attempting to commit acts of terrorism and providing material support to ISIS.

“Major news… earlier this afternoon, Muhammad Shahzeb Khan, a Pakistani citizen residing in Canada, was extradited to the United States on charges of attempting to provide material support to ISIS and attempting to commit acts of terrorism,” FBI Director Kash Patel announced in a post on X.

U.S. officials accused the 20-year-old suspect, also known as Shahzeb Jadoon, of planning a mass shooting targeting Jewish individuals at a community center in Brooklyn, New York. They said Khan intended to attack on October 7, 2024—exactly one year after Hamas launched its deadly assault on Israel, which sparked the ongoing Gaza conflict.

Shahzeb Khan planned the Brooklyn attack to support ISIS

According to AFP, Khan allegedly intended to travel from Canada to New York to carry out the ISIS-inspired shooting. US Attorney Jay Clayton stated, “He planned to use automatic weapons to kill as many members of our Jewish community as possible, all in support of IS.”

Authorities arrested Khan in Canada on September 4, 2024, before he could execute his plans. FBI Director Patel credited the timely arrest to the efforts of law enforcement. He said the FBI teams and their partners exposed the plans and shut them down, and Canadian authorities arrested Khan on September 4, 2024.

Undercover Officers Foiled the Plot

The U.S. Justice Department revealed that Khan’s plan unraveled after he allegedly shared his intentions with individuals he believed were co-conspirators, who were, in fact, undercover law enforcement agents. His capture and subsequent extradition highlight the ongoing global threat of terrorism and the increased targeting of Jewish communities.

“This case is a reminder of the constant threat of terrorism facing every corner of the world, as well as the disturbing rise in threats against our Jewish communities,” Kash Patel added. “Your FBI will continue to be on guard and work around the clock to counter them.”
