A Top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander, Usman Lashkari (Chota Wahid) , was killed in a fierce gunfight that erupted in Srinagar’s Khanyar area on Saturday. The intense operation, led by security forces, concluded with the elimination of one of Kashmir’s most wanted militants, responsible for a series of targeted killings and violent attacks.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, confirmed the death of the LeT commander, describing the operation as a major success. “Usman Bhai was wanted in multiple militancy-related cases, including the brutal killing of Inspector Manzoor. His death marks a significant blow to the network of terror that targeted both non-locals and security personnel,” Birdi stated.

The encounter began after a joint team of security forces zeroed in on a suspected militant hideout. As they approached, the militants opened fire, igniting a prolonged exchange. The operation remained ongoing at the time of this report, with authorities conducting extensive searches to ensure the area’s security.

Terrorist Usman’s killing is being viewed as a critical step in weakening the militant presence in Kashmir, especially in the volatile central regions.
