Despite the strict laws and rules to prevent corruption and bring transparency in the system, the government senior officials and employees are not hesitating to take bribes without any fear in Haryana. Be an IPS or An HCS or other employee, they continue to get involved in taking bribes along with other irregularities. In this series a new case reported wherein a 2013 cadre IPS namely Dheeraj Setia has been suspended by the state government.

Having evaded joining investigation in a theft case, Setia has also been named as accused in the case. The Special Task Force team has reportedly found evidence about his involvement in the case and added a section of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 411 of the IPC in the FIR against him. Prior to this, An HCS namely Anil Nagar who was having the charge of the Deputy Secretary in Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC), was dismissed by the state government this month after having found his direct involvement in recruitment scam and presently is behind the bars.

Further, a GST Superintendent deployed in Murthal, Sonipat namely Umesh was allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 5000 for changing the address of the firm and following the complaint, a team of vigilance caught him red handed. An FIR was filed against him under Section-7 of Prevention of Corruption Act.

Conducting a raid during the month of October, Haryana State Vigilance Bureau has arrested five employees on the charge of taking bribes. Besides this, three new enquiries have been registered and recommendation has been made to the government to register a criminal case in one on-going enquiry. The State Vigilance Bureau had registered three enquiries on the orders of the Government and completed 4 enquiries for which report was sent to the government. Out of 4 completed enquiries, allegations in 2 enquiries were not proved. No recommendation has been made as matter in one enquiry is already pending in the court and in the remaining one enquiry, it is recommended to the government to register a criminal case.

In another incident, Dalbir Bhatti, who was a Senior Manager in HSIDC , Gurugram, was reportedly caught taking a bribe of Rs 10000 on the day of his superannuation. Thus, taking bribes even on the last day of his retirement from the service shows his greed for money and seems as if it is a never-ending process.
