Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the avoidance of Hindi-language events in non-Hindi speaking states. In his letter, he proposed that if such events are to continue, similar celebrations for local languages should also be organized with equal enthusiasm. He also recommended that the Government of India hold special events to honor the richness of all recognized Classical languages to promote regional harmony.

Stalin expressed concern that the emphasis on Hindi in non-Hindi states could strain relationships among regions with unique linguistic identities. He highlighted the importance of acknowledging and celebrating India’s linguistic diversity.

“In accordance with the Constitution of India, no language is designated as a national language. Hindi and English are primarily used for official purposes, including legislation and communication between the Union and State Governments,” he stated in his letter.
