In worst-hit Maharashtra and especially Mumbai, coronavirus has taken lives of three police personnel in the past 24 hours. On Thursday, the death toll of Mumbai Police was 37 while Maharashtra force’s death toll climbed to 54. According to the Maharashtra Police statement, the total number of positive cases has risen to 4,288 including 991 active cases, 3,239 recoveries and 54 fatalities so far.

The three policemen who fell prey to Covid-19 are Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Pandurang Pawar, 53, with the Marine Drive Police station; constable Bramhadeo Shendge, 54, with the Dadar police station and constable Sanjay More, 53, with the Samta Nagar police station.

Over 66% of the police personnel have recovered from Covid-19 in Maharashtra and over 1,000 have resumed duty.
