In a relentless pursuit to eliminate the scourge of drugs from society, the police have successfully apprehended three drug peddlers in Baramulla, recovering significant quantities of contraband substances from their possession.
At a checkpoint on Jetty road Khawajabagh, a police party from Police Station Baramulla, led by SHO PS Baramulla, intercepted Aqib Ahmad Bhat @Ponty. Subsequent search operations led to the discovery of 25 grams of Brown Sugar-like substances in his possession. Aqib Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Sherwani Colony Khawajabagh, has been arrested and is currently in custody at PS Baramulla.
Similarly, another police team, headed by SHO Police Station Kunzer, intercepted Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh at a checkpoint established at Mulgam Kunzer. The search revealed 1.5 kgs of Cannabis Powder-like substance in his possession. Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, a resident of Mulgam Kunzer, has been arrested and is now held in custody at PS Kunzer.
In the course of the investigation of case, a special checkpoint at Chichiloora led to the arrest of Shabir Ahmad Sofi @JK. The search yielded 15 grams of Charas-like substance in his possession. Shabir Ahmad Sofi, a resident of Mazhoma Magam, is currently in custody at Police Station Kunzer, with the investigation ongoing.
Cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered in the respective police stations, reflecting the authorities’ commitment to curbing drug-related offenses. The police urge the public to report any instances of drug peddling or criminal activities by contacting the nearest police establishment or dialing 112.
