This wasn’t suicide but planned murder: Kangana on Sushant’s death

Sushant Singh Rajput never got acknowledgement or awards for his films like ‘Kedarnath’, ‘Chhichhore’ and ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’, says Kangana Ranaut.

Coming down heavily on the Hindi film industry and the media for the poor handling of actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s tragic death, actress Kangana Ranaut said that this wasn’t suicide but planned murder. “Ye suicide nahi, planned murder tha,” the actress said in a strong statement made on her official fan-handle.

Sushant was found dead in his Mumbai home on Sunday. He was 34.

Kangana blamed the film industry for not giving Sushant his dues. “He never got acknowledgement for his films, no awards for his films like Kedarnath, Chhichhore and MS Dhoni: The Untold Story. Films like Gully Boy got all the awards.”

She also criticised the media for projecting the actor’s “weak mind” as the reason for his death by suicide. “If celebrities are struggling with personal and mental health issues, the media should try and empathise with them, rather than making it difficult for them,” read the caption of the video post.

Kangana said that Sushant was a rank holder and asked how he could have a “weak mind”. Taking reference from a viral post of the star pleading with people to watch his movies as he “didn’t have a godfather” in the industry, the actress said that despite doing so many good films, Sushant didn’t receive any acknowledgement or awards, unlike the other “star-kids” of the industry.

The actress said that Sushant’s only fault was in believing those people who told him he was “worthless” and forgot his mother’s words to him.

Taking head-on rumourmongers and a “paid journalist” who wrote pieces alleging that Sushant was “psychotic, neurotic and an addict,” Kangana said, “Sanjay Dutt ka addiction ko aap log bahut cute lagte hai.” She further said that she has been receiving messages from people advising her not to take any such drastic step. “Why are you telling me this? Why do you want to put the thought of suicide in my mind,” she asked.

Meanwhile, Sushant’s rites were held on Monday. Among the celebrities, Kirti Sanon, who had worked with Sushant in Raabta, Shraddha Japoor (who was seen last year in Chhichhore with the late actor) and Mukesh Chhabra, who had directed Sushant in his last film Dil Bechara, were present during the last rites. His grieving family arrived in Mumbai from Patna for the rituals.

According to reports, no suicide note was found at Sushant’s Bandra residence and his house help had stated that he was quite disturbed since the past few days.
