Thus the year 2023 is almost over. And to be honest, not a single high-end, star-studded Bollywood production this year was good enough to be admitted into the category of pure excellence. With considerable difficulty, I must admit, the movies that have made it to my Top 5 list are those that changed the tone, attempted something novel or novel-ish, or resurrected a once-defeated movie star. However there are always disclaimers. Bollywood made more money this year than it has in the previous few combined, especially in 2021–2022, when it was suffering from the triple whammy of closed theaters during COVID.
