TMC’s ‘Khela’ over, lotus will bloom in West Bengal: PM Modi

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], March 7 (ANI): In a sharp rebuttal to Trinamool Congress’ ‘Khela Hobe’ (Game On) slogan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that because of the corruption and loot in Mamata Banerjee’s government, her party’s game is over and the BJP’s lotus will bloom in West Bengal.
Addressing a public rally in Kolkata’s Brigade Parade Ground, the Prime Minister said ‘Didi’ Mamata Banerjee changed over the years, and not is being ‘controlled’ by somebody.
“Nothing is hidden. Bengal knows everything. But this Khel (game) will not continue. Khel Khatam hona chahiye (this game must stop)…TMC ka Khela khatam, Vikas Shuru (TMC’s game is over, development has started)…vote for BJP fearlessly, vote against bad governance,” the Prime Minister said.
Taking a dig at TMC, he said people of the opponent party are experienced people and play a lot. “They have done innumerable corruption and looted the people of Bengal. They have even looted the relief money sent for Amphan cyclone.”
He said that TMC did “Tolabaazi, syndicate, commission cut” during its tenure, and the ruling party during its tenure did so many scams that a ‘Corruption Olympics’ game can be organised here.
“You have played with the hard-earned money of the people and their lives,” he said.
“I have known Didi for ages. She is not the same person who raised her voice against the Left. She speaks someone else’s language now and is being controlled,’ the PM claimed further.
He further alleged TMC has pushed Bengal towards separation instead of development and divided people into religious lines. “And thus the lotus is blooming,” he added.
During the Prime Minister’s rally in Kolkata today, BJP inducted veteran actor turned politician Mithun Chakraborty into the party. With this, Chakraborty joined the long list of former TMC members to join BJP including Suvendu Adhikari, Rajib Banerjee and more, in the run-up to Assembly elections.
West Bengal is likely to witness a triangular contest this time with TMC, Congress-Left alliance and the BJP in the fray.
The Assembly elections in the state will be held in eight phases starting from March 27 with the final round of voting taking place on April 29. The counting of votes will take place on May 2.
After winning 3 seats in the 2016 Assembly election in West Bengal, the BJP made deep inroads in the state in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections winning 18 seats and reducing TMC’s tally to 22. Out of the total 42 Lok Sabha constituencies in West Bengal, Congress won two seats, the Left drew a blank. (ANI)

‘Modi-Shah syndicate’ sold most historical places, railways: Mamata Banerjee

Siliguri (West Bengal) [India], March 7 (ANI): Lashing out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday said that India knows about one syndicate that is Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah’s syndicate, adding that they have already sold most of the historical places, railways and banks.
“India knows about one syndicate that is Modi and Amit Shah’s syndicate. They have already sold most of the historical places, railways, Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) and banks,” said the Chief Minister during a ‘padayatra’ against the LPG price hike in Siliguri.
The Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief held the ‘padayatra’ in Siliguri against the hike in prices of LPG cylinders.
“Do not try to bunt the kitchen room of the sisters and mothers, they will “burn” you. TMC had done many development works for North Bengal,” she added.
Hitting out at Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) ‘poriborton yatra’, Mamata remarked that change will only happen in Delhi, not in West Bengal, as women are safe in Bengal as compared to other BJP-controlled states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and more.
Challenging the BJP, the TMC Chief said: “Khela hobe! We are ready to play. I am ready to play one-on-one. If they (BJP) want to buy votes, take the money and cast your vote for TMC.”
Many of the TMC supporters were seen holding red-coloured cardboard replicas of LPG cylinders at the ‘yatra’, which was led by the TMC supremo, and joined by her ministerial colleague Chandrima Bhattacharya, and party MPs Mimi Chakraborty and Nusrat Jahan.

The poll fever in West Bengal is all set to go high today as Prime Minister Narendra Modi also held a rally in the state capital and the chief minister held a protest march in the northern part of the state against the fuel price.
Taking to Twitter, Mamata said: “BJP is looting people by regularly hiking LPG prices. Women have been hit the hardest and I’m disgusted at the Centre’s lack of intent to cut taxes and lessen their burden. In protest, today I will be leading an all-women michil at Siliguri. REDUCE LPG PRICES NOW!.
The fuel price hike has become a major issue. LPG Last week, the price of the cooking gas LPG was hiked by Rs 25 per cylinder across all categories, including subsidised fuel and those availed by Ujjwala scheme beneficiaries.
“We will stage a protest march in Siliguri tomorrow against the rise in cooking gas price, carrying LPG cylinders during the protest,” Mamata told reporters yesterday.
Last month, the chief minister warned the centre of launching a bigger protest if the latter does not reduce the prices of fuel.
West Bengal Assembly elections will be held in eight phases starting from March 27 with the final round of voting taking place on April 29. The counting of votes in the state will take place on May 2. (ANI)

Siliguri (West Bengal) [India], March 7 (ANI): While addressing a public gathering in Siliguri on Sunday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee threw a challenge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, saying she is ready to play (khela hobe) one to one.
The Trinamool Congress supremo came to Siliguri yesterday evening to join a “padyatra” from Mainak more to Venus more to protest against the price hike of different items including cooking gas cylinder.
Addressing the gathering Mamata Banerjee said, “Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is going to lose elections in five states votes including West-Bengal. During the time of COVID-19 he never came here to see the situation. Besides this, the state government wanted to buy Coronavirus vaccines, but here also he posted his photo to do politics.”
“Modi always asks questions about women’s security in Bengal, but never asks about Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and other BJP ruled states. Gang rape and other related incidents are happening every day in those states. Women are safe in her state of West-Bengal whether in the daytime or at night,” she claimed.
The TMC chief also said that the BJP government has tried to sell off profitable undertakings such as banks, railways and LIC. That is why he (Modi) is becoming like a child, she said.
Banerjee further said that BJP talks of “Syndicate Raj”. But India knows about a syndicate that is Modi-Amit Shah’s syndicate, the biggest syndicate of India. She again said that without informing them, they gave the final word to Bangladesh about the Teesta river water. Bengal has a special relation with Bangladesh. “We never said ‘Debo na’,” she said.
“The people of Bengal want to know when they will get free gas. Do not try to burn the kitchens of sisters and mothers, They will burn you instead,” she said. (ANI)
