Revanth Reddy, the chief minister of Telangana, gave the officials strict orders regarding the distribution and misuse of drugs within the state. On Monday, the Chief Minister convened a review meeting at the Dr. BR Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat to discuss the opioid drug crisis. The review meeting was attended by State Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, Additional DG (Intelligence) B Shivdhar Reddy, Minister of Excise and Prohibition, Tourism and Culture Jupalli Krishna Rao, DGP Ravi Gupta, and CMO Secretary Seshadri. Speaking at the event, the chief minister of Telangana gave the officials strict instructions about how to combat drug use and sales in the state.
He further said that a full-time Director will be appointed to the existing Telangana State Anti-Narcotic Bureau (TSNAB) to strengthen the department.
The CM asked the officials to provide adequate funds, resources and other logistic support to the department. The department should give utmost priority to the curb of narcotics abuse and its sale.
Reddy said that the TSNAB should be strengthened on the lines of Greyhounds and Octopus in the state. He made it clear that Telangana should be promoted as a drug-free state in the country.
Additionally, the chief minister of Telangana gave the order to begin the process of depositing “Rythubandhu” funds into the accounts of every farmer in the state. The Chief Minister and the Agriculture Department had a lengthy conversation about the department’s performance, that of related departments, and the state’s implementation of farmer welfare programs. Revanth Reddy stated unequivocally that in order to prevent farmer hardship, assistance with crop investments should be given.
