Tejasvi Surya, a member of the BJP and the national president of the Yuva Morcha, criticized the Congress-led state government in Karnataka on Sunday for allegedly delaying the opening of the Baiyappanahalli-KR Pura Metro line in Bengaluru despite receiving all necessary approvals. He claimed that the state government was delaying the opening because it wanted Rahul Gandhi or another prominent figure to attend and officially open it.
According to MP Tejasvi Surya, who was speaking about the city’s traffic problems, if this section opens, it will help about 50–60% of daily commuters.
“About 5 to 6 lakh people use the Bengaluru metro every day. Around 50-60 per cent of this number is set to get benefits if the Baiyappanahalli-KR Pura metro section opens. The state government despite receiving all approvals and green signalling from the CMRS after its inspection, is still delaying the opening of this line,” the BJP Yuva Morcha chief said.
He further said, “However, the state government is not opening the operations to the public only because it is waiting for either Rahul Gandhi or some other leader of the Congress to come and inaugurate this project.”
Tejasvi Surya urged the state government to open the line right away for the public, saying it is upsetting for the public to see a project delayed for “political reasons.”
