Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 27 (ANI): Apple has officially introduced ads on Apple Maps, with the new feature set to roll out more widely in the coming weeks.

According to 9to5Mac, they’re marked with a blue “ad” icon, similar to the ads Google’s had in its Maps app for years now.

There are two places where one will find ads in the Maps app:

Before searching: Suggested Places in the search screen will feature an ad.

After searching: Ads will appear in search results when relevant.

Ads on Maps builds on Apple’s broader privacy-first approach to advertising, and maintains the same privacy protections Maps users enjoy today. A user’s location and the ads they see and interact with in Maps are not associated with a user’s Apple Account. Personal data stays on a user’s device, is not collected or stored by Apple, and is not shared with third parties, as per Apple Newsroom.

Meanwhile, all eyes are on Apple’s event on September 9, where the tech giant will unveil its iPhone 18 lineup.

The event will take place at 10 am PT (10:30 p.m. IST), and viewers will be able to watch the keynote live on YouTube, the Apple website, and Apple TV.

At the event, Apple is widely expected to release the new iPhone 18 lineup, as well as a foldable smartphone, rumored to be called the iPhone Ultra. (ANI)
