Omron Healthcare, one of the world’s largest players in the medical devices segment with expertise in health monitoring and therapy, plans to set up its first manufacturing unit in Tamil Nadu, indicating that Japanese companies are increasingly showing interest in the state. The plant will be built at Origins by Mahindra in Peruvoyal Village, Gummidipoondi Taluk, Thiruvallur district.
During Chief Minister M K Stalin’s visit to the island nation last week, the state saw investment plans worth Rs 1,300 crore. During Stalin’s current visit, MoUs for investments totaling Rs 819 crore were signed with six Japanese companies as of Monday. Omron’s plans in the state are likely to be worth Rs 120-130 crore, according to an anonymous source. A contract is expected to be signed today.
