On Monday, the government of Tamil Nadu gave the Supreme Court their word that they would allow the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to hold route marches throughout the state. A bench of justices led by Surya Kant and Dipankar Dutta requested that the RSS provide the state authorities with the suggested march routes within three days of receiving assurances from the TN government. The court ordered the relevant authorities to make a decision by November 16 regarding the routes.
The marches are likely to be conducted in the state either on November 19 or 26.
The TN government had approached the Supreme Court, challenging the Madurai Bench of the High Court of Madras order allowing the RSS to conduct flag marches in the state.
