In order to get rid of stray cattle and to promote natural farming, the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government of Madhya Pradesh will now give a cow-rearing grant of Rs.900 per month to the farmers. However, the cow should be of an indigenous breed. Through this scheme, a farmer will get Rs 10,800 in a year. Farmers will also be able to earn an extra income by selling their cow’s milk and manure made from cow dung.

To encourage organic agriculture, the decision to implement the indigenous cow-rearing grant and Prakritik Krishi Vikas Yojana in Madhya Pradesh was taken in a cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

Under this scheme, selected farmers from all 52 districts of the state will be included in the first phase. Five farmers, i.e., a total of 26 thousand farmers will be selected from each village for cow rearing. At the same time, 100 villages of a district will be selected for natural farming. In this way, the government will spend Rs 39 crore, 50 lakh this year to promote natural farming in 5200 villages. At the same time, a provision of Rs 28 crore 80 lakh has been made for the cow rearing grant.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan recently talked about making a plan for rearing indigenous cows to reunite the farmers with their bovines. According to Chief Minister Chouhan, cows are necessary for natural farming and farmers doing such agriculture should have at least one indigenous cow. The farmers will be able to do natural farming by making manure from cow dung and organic pesticides from cow urine.

The problem of stray cattle became a major political issue in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections held in the same year. Along with this, it has become a big problem for the farmers in Madhya Pradesh too. According to the 20th Livestock Survey, there are about 8.50 lakh stray cattle in Madhya Pradesh.

Earlier, to promote Gopalan, the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government had decided to form a “Go Cabinet.” The government had directed all the departments that phenyl made from cow urine should be used in all government buildings.
