The Babar Azam-led Pakistan team faced its second defeat in the T20 World Cup 2024, losing to arch-rival India by six runs at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. This loss came after their previous shocking defeat against host United States in a Super Over in Dallas. Currently, Pakistan sits in fourth place in Group A, having yet to secure a victory in the tournament. With two matches remaining against Canada and Ireland, Pakistan’s chances of advancing to the next stage hang in the balance.

Can Pakistan Qualify If They Win Both Their Remaining Matches?

In order for Pakistan to qualify for the next round by winning both of its remaining matches, it would require either India or the USA, both of whom currently have four points, to lose both of their remaining games. Additionally, Canada would need to suffer defeats in both matches, while Ireland should not win more than one game. In such a scenario, Pakistan could secure qualification with four points and a superior Net Run Rate.

Can Pakistan Qualify If They Win One Out of Their Two Remaining Matches?

However, if Pakistan manages to win only one of its two remaining matches, it would end the tournament with just two points. Given that two teams in the group already have four points each, this outcome would result in elimination for Pakistan from the tournament.
