Familiar Foes on the Grand Stage

Namibia and Oman, both making their third appearance in the World Cup within four years, meet on the grandest stage for the first time. Despite being familiar ODI opponents, their encounters in the shorter T20 format have been relatively rare.

Limited Past Encounters

Prior to a recent five-match bilateral series in Muscat in April, Namibia and Oman had only faced each other three times in T20s, all during T20 World Cup qualifiers.

Captain’s Words

Oman’s captain Aqib Ilyas, on the other hand, expressed contentment with batting first on a fresh wicket. He stressed the importance of executing their plans without pressure and highlighted the fitness of his squad.
