The tragic death of film actor Sushant Singh Rajput took the entire country by storm. Amid growing speculations on reasons behind the actor’s unfortunate end, Mumbai Police is all set to question his rumoured girlfriend and actress Rhea Chakraborty in connection with the death mystery after an old picture of the couple went viral on the Internet. The actress also visited Cooper Hospital on Monday where Sushant’s dead body was kept. Earlier, the police had earlier called it a suicide case, but now will interrogate the actress.
The actor’s bereaved father, who is also a police commissioner, informed that the deceased had informed him that he was planning to get married in November but never mentioned the girl’s name. He also suspected foul play and alleged that his son was murdered. He said that there were no reasons for his son to end his life in such tragic circumstances as he was financially well.
The police also interrogated three persons including his two cooks and manager who lived with him. Neeraj Singh (cook), Keshav Bachner (cook) and Deepesh Sawant (manager) in their statement to the police said that the actor was in depression since last 8 months and was under medication. They also informed that he was not taking any medicines in the last two months. He also made a last call to Mahesh Krishna Shetty, his friend since struggling days, around 3 am on Sunday but he didn’t respond. Mahesh, however, called back Sushant around 12 pm on the same day but there was no response. Police have recorded the statement of Mahesh and they are also tracking call details of the deceased.
Meanwhile, the forensic lab team visited the actor’s house on Monday to collect samples and evidence. The police also spoke to Sushant’s sister Nitu Singh who resides in Goregaon. In her statement, she informed the police that Sushant came to her house on 8 June and stayed there for two days and was alright. Both of them had made a plan to go to Patna in July. It is being said that he was under financial crisis and had signed a web series during lockdown. Police are likely to record the statements of his father, friends and other family members soon.
