If you have still not noticed that Valentine’s Day is around the corner, then you are most certainly living under a rock. It really does not matter if you have a special someone or not, you cannot escape the hype this occasion brings as soon as February begins.

But how one celebrates love is subjective. Gifts to others are basic, gifts to yourself are a bit meta, but regardless of whether you have someone to celebrate with or not, you cannot deny the psychological benefits of dressing up & looking good! So why not make the most of Valentine’s week with some style tips that will make you shine!

RED IS THE COLOUR OF THE SEASON AND PINK IS A HUE OF IT

If you seldom get to wear bold colours, now you have an excuse for it! Reds and pinks can be daunting to most, but they truly look good on everyone. Go out on a limb and wear that red dress sitting in your closet, and accessorize it with statement earrings (roses optional) you can always go for a red top paired with jeans to tone it down, or just add red accessories to your look. If red is too much for you, my go-to has always been pink – the most beautiful, feminine colour ever! A pastel all pink look is a classic. But a hot pink/fuschia shade will make sure you do not go unnoticed, and what better time than Valentine’s! Cinch the dress at the waist and keep accessories to a minimum.

PRINTS ARE ALWAYS FUN

Heart print dresses that is it. That is the tip. On a serious note, cute prints that can otherwise be too over the top, can work perfectly well now. Bring out the prints – hearts, florals, butterflies, gingham, polka dots, even sequins and trust me, you will still be blending right into Valentine’s theme!

BOLD IS BEAUTIFUL

A silhouette that has made a comeback is the corset and if you ever wanted to wear it, now is the right time. Yes, outside too! A well-fitting black corset top paired with a black leather skirt, cinched at the waist, along with gold accessories is the epitome of bold and sexy and will make you feel like the boss babe you are!

Another way to play with silhouettes is adding mega bows into your outfits a la Emily. You are a gift after all!

SAREES ARE SEXY TOO

You thought Valentine’s Day was a western concept, didn’t you? Well, Indians definitely know how to celebrate a ‘festival’. Sarees are one of the most beautiful garments that can elevate

your style by leaps and bounds. A simple dusty pink saree with a slight sheen worn with diamonds is subtle enough and perfect for the occasion. Other Indian ethnic silhouettes that work are shararas as they are easier to wear too.

HEEL IT UP

Sexy stilettos, strappy heels, embellished with diamonds is the best way to glam up any outfit. Especially if you are not into outfits that scream valentines. The right pair of shoes can make or break any outfit, so choose carefully. You can never go wrong with black pointed-toe heels!

SMELL GOOD, FEEL GOOD

This is more of a general tip, but smelling good is so important. No one likes BO, and finding the right fragrance for you is imperative. It defines how you feel and can definitely have an effect on your mood. Two perfumes I swear by are Versace Bright Crystal (night) and Armani Acqua di Gioia (day)

Carry a small atomizer with you to smell fresh all the time.

GOOD LINGERIE IS UNDERRATED

How can one forget this? The very foundation of an outfit is good, well-fitting, comfortable lingerie. Make sure you know your size and go for something seamless that will not be visible. Also, this is the best time to get into the sexiest lingerie you own, even if it is just for yourself!

Hope these tips can help you decide how you would want to style yourself this V-Day week.
