On Monday morning, a stampede at Baba Siddhnath Temple in Jehanabad district, Bihar, resulted in seven deaths and nine injuries. The injured were taken to hospitals in Makhdumpur and Jehanabad for treatment.

Jehanabad District Magistrate Alankrita Pandey assured that the situation is under control. She reported to ANI that the authorities are monitoring the situation closely.

Following the incident, both the District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police visited the site. The police are working to identify the deceased and have begun inquiries with their families. Jehanabad Station House Officer Divakar Kumar Vishwakarma confirmed that the bodies will be sent for post-mortem after identification.

Sub-Divisional Officer Vikas Kumar described the incident as “sad” and stated that they are assessing the situation and will provide further updates.

This incident follows a similar tragedy on July 2 in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras, where a stampede at a religious event resulted in over 120 deaths.
