NEW DELHI: DMK president M.K. Stalin met Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit at Raj Bhavan to hand over a 98-page report citing alleged corruption charges against the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and his cabinet.

After the meeting, which lasted more than 45 minutes, Stalin addressed the media, saying, “In the last four years, corruption has become rampant in the state and several complaints which were filed by DMK against the ministers have not been investigated by the DVAC.”

He also said that, as per the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018, the State Governor has the power to order an investigation into complaints of corruption against the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister. He urged the TN Governor to ensure that an investigation is carried out under the act.

The dossier handed by DMK charges Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami, Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam and six other ministers of corruption. The chief minister has been accused of misusing his position and handing contracts worth several crores to his relatives.

The DMK has also alleged that O Panneerselvam has amassed wealth through his family and relatives, despite a conflict of interests with his post as Deputy CM. The long list of corruption charges also names ministers D. Jayakumar, P. Thangamani, S.P. Velumani and R. Kamaraj.

Stalin was accompanied by MP R.S. Bharathi, A. Raja, party general secretary Duraimurugan and other senior leaders.
