Fans of the classic 1989 serial Fauji, which introduced Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan to the world, are in for a treat as the beloved show is set to return in a revamped format. Fauji 2, a modern adaptation of the original, is being brought to life by filmmaker Sandeep Singh in collaboration with India’s national broadcaster, Doordarshan.

A Modern Take on a Classic

Sandeep Singh, who is spearheading the project, expressed his excitement about reviving the show. “We are bringing back one of the greatest shows ever seen on television, but in a new and exciting version. The 1989 Fauji gave us Shahrukh Khan, an actor who captivated the entire nation not just with his unconventional looks but with his extraordinary energy and talent. Shahrukh Khan became the Baadshah of Bollywood. With Fauji 2, I hope to recreate history and connect with every Indian, especially the youth,” he shared.

Introducing a Fresh Cast

Fauji 2 will feature a new lineup of actors, with Vicky Jain taking the lead as Colonel Sanjay Singh. Jain, known for his reality show appearances, will step into the world of mainstream television with this significant role. Joining him will be Gauhar Khan as Lieutenant Colonel Simarjeet Kaur, a cadet trainer specializing in weaponry. The show promises to showcase the struggles and camaraderie of army personnel, much like its predecessor.

A Unique Storytelling Style

Sandeep Singh emphasized that Fauji 2 will not follow the traditional television narrative. “We spent six months brainstorming to develop a story that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Unlike the usual television narratives, Fauji 2 has a unique storytelling style, which will be one of its highlights. The show is rich in emotion and will offer a close look at the lives of army personnel, their bonds despite cultural and religious differences, and their dedication to safeguarding the country. Fauji 2 is a tale of courage and inspiration,” Singh added.

A Collaboration with Doordarshan

The collaboration with Doordarshan is particularly exciting, given the iconic status of the original series. Navneet Kumar Sehgal, Chairman of Doordarshan, said, “Fauji, one of our most prestigious shows, continues to rule hearts and it just had to come back for today’s audience. We are thrilled to bring Fauji 2 and can’t wait for our audience to experience the valour of our army officers, once again.”

Doordarshan CEO Gaurav Dwivedi echoed the sentiment, noting how the concept of Fauji 2 quickly gained momentum. “Fauji was one of the most acceptable and successful serials of its time. When we came across the concept of Fauji 2, it took us no time to begin working on this iconic project. The show shall be on-air very soon and we are ecstatic to bring the magic of Fauji once again to the Indian audience,” he stated.

Musical Contributions by Sonu Nigam

Adding to the excitement, renowned singer Sonu Nigam has lent his voice to the title track of Fauji 2. The show will feature 11 songs, with music composed by Filmfare Award-winning composer Shreyas Puranik. Other contributions come from music directors Shashi Suman and Jazim Sharma, with lyrics by Prashant Ingole, Mahimma Bhardwaj, and Abhendra Kumar Upadhyay.

Production Details

Produced by Sandeep Singh, co-produced by Vicky Jain and Zafar Mehdi, and with Sameer Hallim serving as the Creative Head, Fauji 2 promises to be a show that captivates viewers. The writing team includes Amarnath Jha, Vishal Chaturvedi, Anil Choudhary, and Chaitanya Tulsyan. The series will also mark the directorial debut of Abhinav Pareek, known for his previous works Sab Moh Maaya Hai and A Wedding Story. Nishant Chandrashekhar will also contribute as a director.

Currently being filmed in Pune, Fauji 2 will air on Doordarshan and will be available in multiple languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, Punjabi, and Bengali.

This modern reimagining of Fauji promises to be an exciting journey into the lives of army personnel, blending nostalgia with fresh storytelling and talent.
