Jammu and Kashmir continued to experience severe cold weather conditions, with Srinagar registering the season’s coldest night at minus 2.6°C on Thursday. A meteorological department official indicated a further drop of 1-2°C in the next three days.
The official forecast mainly dry weather in Jammu and Kashmir until December 10, with December 11 expected to be generally cloudy. From December 12 to 15, the weather is likely to remain generally cloudy with light rain/snow at isolated higher reaches, according to the Meteorological Department.
Regarding the minimum temperatures, Srinagar recorded a low of minus 2.6°C, the coldest this season, showing a decrease from 2.0°C on the previous night and 2.0°C below the normal for this time of the year in Srinagar.
Qazigund reported a minimum of minus 2.2°C compared to minus 2.0°C on the previous night, with the temperature being 1.4°C below normal for the gateway town of Kashmir.
Pahalgam witnessed a low of minus 4.9°C, down from minus 5.1°C on the previous night, and 1.7°C below normal for the famous resort in south Kashmir.Kokernag, in south Kashmir, recorded a minimum of minus 1.4°C, a decrease from minus 0.5°C on the previous night, with the temperature 0.7°C below normal.Kupwara town in north Kashmir experienced a low of minus 3.1°C, compared to minus 2.7°C on the previous night, and 1.3°C below normal.Gulmarg reported a low of minus 2.5°C, slightly higher than minus 2.6°C on the previous night, and 1.2°C above normal for the skiing resort in north Kashmir.Jammu recorded a minimum of 9.6°C, slightly lower than 9.9°C on the previous night, and 0.4°C below normal for the winter capital of J&K.
