Punjab Kings co-owner and actress Preity Zinta has filed legal action against co-directors Mohit Burman and Ness Wadia in a Chandigarh court. All three directors of KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited, which owns the IPL team, have been named.
Zinta has challenged the legitimacy of an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on April 21, claiming that it was in contravention of procedures established by the Companies Act, 2013 and governing secretarial rules.
Zinta Alleges She Was Ignored
As per court filings, Zinta protested the meeting through email on April 10, but concerns were said to be ignored. She alleged that Mohit Burman held the meeting with support from Ness Wadia, even amidst procedural flaws.
Even though Zinta and another director, Karan Paul, had attended the EGM, she has asked the court to hold the meeting as invalid. Her main objection lies in the appointment of Muneesh Khanna as an additional director—a proposal she and Paul had disagreed with.
Zinta Seeks to Halt Board Activity Pending Legal Resolution
In her court plea, Zinta has asked the court to enjoin Khanna from functioning as a director and stop the implementation of any resolutions taken at the April 21 meeting. In addition, she has requested the court to restrain the company from holding future board or general meetings in the absence of both herself and Karan Paul—and in the absence of Khanna—until the legal dispute is settled.
Zinta Keeps Cheering from the Sidelines in the Wake of Legal Drama
In spite of the legal fight, Preity Zinta has continued to be a seen and fervent supporter of the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 season. The squad, led by Shreyas Iyer, has been in good form this season. Having already secured a playoffs qualification for the first time since 2014, Punjab Kings are third on the table with 17 points from 12 matches, looking to finish top-two.
Their last league fixtures are against Delhi Capitals on May 24 in Jaipur, and Mumbai Indians on May 26.
