Gautam Gambhir couldn’t contain his smile during his first ‘Impact Fielder of the Series’ ceremony as India’s head coach, following the team’s 3-0 T20I series win over Sri Lanka. Rinku Singh was awarded the ‘Fielder of the Series’ for his exceptional fielding performance, including some crucial catches in the third T20I.
In the final match, Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bowl first. India set a target of 137/9, with Shubman Gill scoring 39 runs and late contributions from Riyan Parag and Washington Sundar. Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga were the standout bowlers for Sri Lanka.
During Sri Lanka’s run chase, Kusal Perera and Kusal Mendis played key roles but could only match India’s score, leading to a super over. Rinku Singh and Suryakumar Yadav’s bowling efforts were pivotal, with each taking two wickets. In the super over, Sri Lanka managed only 2/2, and Suryakumar Yadav secured the win for India with a boundary on the first ball.
Washington Sundar was named Player of the Match, and Suryakumar Yadav was awarded Player of the Series.
