Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman Virat Kohli playfully took a jab at Delhi Capitals (DC) wicket-keeper batsman KL Rahul following RCB’s convincing success against DC in the IPL 2025 game on Sunday, April 27. In a surprising twist, Kohli replicated Rahul’s celebration in their last game, putting a personal spin on the success of the two teams.
Gesture of Revenge After DC’s Victory Over RCB
In the last match they had played at Bengaluru, KL Rahul had taken DC to victory in his manner of play. In the process of that triumph, he did make a huge claim by pounding the ground with his bat, saying the Chinnaswamy Stadium was “his ground.” Take a forward now to Sunday’s encounter at Delhi, when playing in his city, Virat Kohli did make sure to give back by smashing a winning fifty. Following his half-century in the chase, Kohli did the same bat-thumping celebration, mocking Rahul’s earlier gesture. It was a fun-filled moment, showing the playful side of Kohli as he took revenge for DC’s earlier victory.

Third Consecutive Fifty of Virat Kohli
RCB’s pursuit of a humble 163 was never on the cards, as they rode to victory in 18.3 overs. Kohli amassed 51 off 47 balls, his third successive fifty in pursuit. His effort was pivotal to RCB’s easy chase of the target. Krunal Pandya was also equally effective, as he scored 73* off 47 balls and also helped with the bowling (1/28). As a reward for his all-around show, Pandya was awarded the Player of the Match.
RCB’s Impregnable Away Streak Continues
The victory over DC was RCB’s sixth away triumph in IPL 2025, and they became the first team in the history of IPL to have done so. Even though RCB had a bumpy start at home, losing three on the trot, they ended their jinx at home with a close 11-run win over the Rajasthan Royals. With seven wins out of 10 matches, RCB is comfortably placed on top of the points table, gaining 14 points.
Impact of Virat Kohli on RCB’s Success
Virat Kohli has been the star performer for RCB this season. With 443 runs in 10 innings, Kohli averages 63 and maintains an impressive strike rate of 138. He has scored six fifties in the season and is the proud holder of the Orange Cap. Kohli’s form has positioned him light years ahead of RCB’s number two batsman, Phil Salt, who has scored 239 runs in nine innings. Courtesy of Kohli, RCB is enjoying a remarkable season, leaving them poised to finish at the top of the tournament.
