Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) started strongly against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match on Saturday, hammering 62 runs off only 33 deliveries. During his time at the crease, Virat Kohli struck 5 sixes and 5 fours, putting together an outstanding 97-run partnership for the first wicket with debutant Jacob Bethell. Along the way, Kohli went on to create history in the history of T20 league when he became the first cricketer ever to record 300 sixes for one team. No player had previously hit 300 sixes for one team in IPL history.

Chris Gayle is the second player on the list, having hit 263 sixes in the IPL for RCB. Gayle also leads the list of sixes in the history of the league (357), including his maximums for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS).

In the match, Virat Kohli also became the most run-hitting batter against a single franchise. Following his innings against Super Kings, Kohli accumulated 1146 runs. The figure puts him at the top of the list, surpassing David Warner’s record of 1134 runs against Punjab Kings.

With his overall total this season going to 505 runs, Virat Kohli now has the most IPL seasons with 500+ runs in the history of the league a total of 8.
