Varun did not caption or use an emoji to explain the photo; he just tagged Abhishek Nayar in stark and bold text. Interestingly, Instagram provides various ways for people to hide or immerse the tagged in the image but Chakaravarthy did not utilize any of those.
Long-Standing Association of Varun Chakaravarthy and Abhishek Nagar
Nayar and Varun Chakaravarthy spent a great deal of time in the KKR camp prior to coming together on the Indian side last year. Varun Chakaravarthy and Nayar have been part of KKR for years. Varun was a name known to all after joining KKR in IPL 2020 and Nayar joined the Knights as early as 2018 when he was initially made the head of their academy.
KKR retained Varun twice before the mega auctions for his consistent performance for the franchise. Varun and Nayar also won the IPL last season. The latter was given credit for playing a vital role in building a positive atmosphere in the dressing room.
He, along with team mentor Gautam Gambhir, parted ways with KKR after being offered positions in Team India. Gambhir was named the head coach of the team after Rahul Dravid opted to leave the side after the T20 World Cup victory, while Nayar became the assistant coach.
Return of Varun Chakravarthy and Abhishek Nayar’s Impact
Varun Chakaravarthy reunited with Nayar and Gambhir in India’s side during the previous season. The white-ball return, having a decent re-entry leg-spinner, accredited Nayar. Varun Chakaravarthy earned 31 wickets in 12 T20Is after he made his return from Bangladesh. He also entered late into the India Champions Trophy squad with an eye-catching record of T20I. His career took an astonishing turn to make 10 wickets at the tournament.
Varun’s Instagram story might not carry a caption or other information, but it was sufficient to hint at the spinner’s camaraderie with the erstwhile all-rounder.
Reported Exit from Team India of Abhishek Nayar
Reports said he was apprised of the decision last week. India’s home losses to New Zealand and the underperformance by batters in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia are said to be the prime reasons for Nayar’s removal.
The 41-year-old Nayar, an erstwhile all-rounder who appeared in three ODIs but was otherwise a domestic workhorse with 103 first-class matches.
