Vaibhav Suryavanshi is only 14 years old. On Thursday, the Rajasthan Royals opener had a tough outing in the IPL 2025 match against Mumbai Indians. Deepak Chahar dismissed him for a two-ball duck. The young cricketer looked stunned and disappointed. He had to be almost pulled off the field because he found it hard to leave after his early dismissal.
Just three days earlier, he had amazed everyone by scoring the fastest century in IPL history against Gujarat Titans. But Mumbai Indians brought him back to reality. At such a young age, learning tough lessons on the field isn’t easy—but then again, not many 14-year-olds create history in IPL.
RR Collapse Follows Vaibhav’s Dismissal
After Vaibhav’s exit, Rajasthan Royals struggled badly. Chasing a target of 218 runs, the team collapsed for just 117. They lost by a massive 100-run margin. The contrast between their big win over GT and this crushing defeat was hard to ignore.
Vaibhav misjudged the delivery from Deepak Chahar. He tried to go for a big shot, thinking the ball was in his hitting zone. But it turned out to be fuller than he expected. His bat twisted in his hands, and he failed to lift the ball. It went straight to the fielder at mid-on. Clearly heartbroken, he walked back slowly toward the RR dugout. The setback hit him hard.
Turning to Family for Support
After the match ended at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Vaibhav was seen talking to his mother near the sidelines. Photos of their quiet conversation quickly went viral on social media platform X. In tough moments like these, the young cricketer found peace in his mother’s presence.
A New Record and a Humble Beginning
Vaibhav comes from Samastipur in Bihar. He was born three years after the IPL began. This makes him the first player in IPL history who is younger than the tournament itself to score a century. Despite the highs and lows, Vaibhav remains grounded. After the game, he praised his family for their sacrifices.
“I Am What I Am Because of My Parents”
Speaking to IPLT20.com, Vaibhav said, “I am what I am because of my parents. My mother, for the sake of my practice schedule, wakes up at 3 in the morning after going to sleep at 11, sleeping barely three hours. “She then prepares meals for me. My father left his work to support me. My elder brother is taking care of his work and the household is running with great difficulty. But papa is backing me,” he added.
“…God ensures that those who work hard never fail. The results that we are seeing and the success that I am achieving is because of my parents.”
