Unbelievable! Pakistan Hockey Players To Get Only USD 100 For Bronze Medal

In a recent announcement, the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) revealed that each player and official of the national hockey team, which clinched the bronze medal at the Asian Champions Trophy, will be rewarded with USD 100 (approximately 28,000 PKR). This special cash prize was approved by PHF President Mir Tariq Bugti and aims to recognize the team’s efforts in the tournament.

A Historic Achievement

Pakistan Hockey team secured third place by defeating Korea 5-2 in the bronze-medal match. This victory followed a narrow defeat in the semifinals, where they lost to hosts China in a penalty shootout. The team’s performance was celebrated, even though they missed out on the final.

Cash Award and Support for Injured Player

The PHF’s press release emphasized that the cash award was meant to “acknowledge and encourage” the players’ dedication and hard work throughout the competition. Additionally, the federation has pledged full support and rehabilitation for Abu Bakr Mahmood, who sustained an injury during the tournament.

A Tribute to Resilience

In a heartfelt tribute, the PHF dedicated the bronze medal to Ghazanfar Ali, a player who continued to compete despite the passing of his father during the event. His commitment and perseverance were recognized and honored by the federation.

India Wins Title

India went on to win the Asian Champions Trophy for a record fifth time, defeating China in the final match held on Tuesday.

This gesture of appreciation and support highlights the PHF’s commitment to valuing and encouraging the efforts of its athletes.
