Gujarat Titans’ left-handed opening bat Sai Sudharsan hit his second Indian Premier League (IPL) century as he overtook the three-figure mark against Delhi Capitals on Sunday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The left-handed batter reached the landmark off a mere 56 deliveries off the bowling of Kuldeep Yadav in the 18th over of the match. This innings took Gujarat Titans to victory in the match against Delhi Capitals by 10 wickets and earned the team a spot in the playoffs.
Unbeaten Opening Stand Seals Win for Gujarat
Sudharsan added an unbeaten partnership of 205 runs for the opening wicket with Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill as the visitors posted an impressive ten-wicket victory with six balls to spare. Sudharsan and Gill were finally left unbeaten on 108 and 93 respectively.
The pair didn’t sweat a bead as Gujarat Titans glided over the finishing line. The Delhi Capitals bowlers faced an uphill task as Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill punished T Natarajan, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel severely.
Orange Cap Changes Hands
Due to this undefeated knock, Sai Sudharsan also took back the Orange Cap from Rajasthan Royals opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. Shubman Gill is now second in the list of leading run-scorers.
Sudharsan has scored 617 runs in 12 games till now whereas Shubman Gill has scored 601 runs in as many matches.
Remarkable IPL Journey of Sai Sudharsan Continues
Earlier, Sudharsan has criticized his first IPL century last year when he reached the milestone against Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium. In the process of this very innings, the left-hander was also the quickest Indian to hit 1000 runs in the IPL.
Earlier, Delhi Capitals had scored 199/3 in the twenty overs allocated to them after Delhi Capitals had been requested to bat first. KL Rahul has struck an unbeaten 112-run innings of 65 balls with 14 fours and 4 sixes to assist Delhi to get over 190 runs on the board.
GT Bowlers Hold Their Own
For Gujarat Titans, Arshad Khan, Sai Kishore and Prasidh Krishna had taken a wicket apiece.
With this victory, Gujarat Titans earned a place in the playoffs. The 2022 champion is now leading the points table. This GT win also ensured a playoff spot for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS).

Gujarat Titans will face Lucknow Super Giants next on May 22 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, and Delhi Capitals will face Mumbai Indians on Wednesday, May 21.
Delhi Capitals then have to win their last two games in order to have any hope of qualifying for the playoffs. The battle now is between Delhi, Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants for a single playoff position.
