Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli Likely To Be Absent From T20 Format After 2024 World Cup

Rumour has it, that senior batsman Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli might not play T2OIs again, after the T20 World Cup conclusion.

As discussions are currently taking place, over the continuation of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in T20 format after world cup.

However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), so far haven’t issued any formal announcement.

But as per PTI report, it is likely, that Rohit and Virat might solely focus on ODIs and Tests, as nine WTC tests are scheduled from September 2024 to January 2025.

Besides Rohit & Virat, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah might be removed T20I team and might focus on red-ball cricket.

As informed by BCCI source to PTI, the board is thinking of inducting younger players, who delivered impressive performance in IPL 2024.

“Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag, Mayank Yadav, Harshit Rana, Nitish Reddy, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Yash Dayal are all at the camp. Some will go to Zimbabwe T20Is, revealed source.

Moreover, the report also reveals, that other famous IPL stars like Rinku Singh, Shubman Gill, Avesh Khan and Khaleel Ahmed might come to Zimbabwe. Most likely, Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav will become team’s captain and vice-captain respectively.

This development comes around the time, when multiple reports have already declared, that Gautam Gambhir might become Team India’s head coach.
