Riyan Parag showed his unhappiness over the third umpire’s ruling in the IPL 2025 match against Gujarat Titans on Wednesday. The Rajasthan Royals were going great guns until he was caught behind but he did not appear to be happy with the call and even discussed it with the umpire before departing the field.
Kulwant Khejroliya breaks crucial stand between Sanju and Riyan Parag
It was the first over after powerplay and Gujarat Titans introduced Kulwant Khejroliya into the attack to disrupt the risky stand between Sanju Samson and Parag. The left-arm pacer did the trick on the fourth ball when the umpire sent Parag caught behind. But Parag straightaway opted for the DRS as he was sure about not getting the edge and showed the ball striking the ground, giving a big noise. There was a spike appearing in the replay as the ball went past the bat, and the third umpire did not alter the decision shell-shocked Parag and he even debated with the on-field umpire.
Mohammed Siraj consoles Riyan Parag after dismissal
Gujarat Titans’s veteran pacer Mohammed Siraj had a chat with Parag and patted his back on returning to the pavilion.
Riyan Parag did have some little impact with his stay in the middle and dazzled the crowd with three spectacular sixes; however, the moment turned around for the hosts after his fall.
Rajasthan Royals wobble in tall chase
In pursuit of a 218-run target, RR lost Yashasvi Jaiswal (6) and Nitish Rana (1) within the powerplay, but Parag and Samson stabilized the innings with a 48-run partnership. Post-game, however, they again kept losing wickets at frequent intervals. Simultaneously, the loss of Samson to 41 virtually clinched it for the Titans. The wicket-keeper batsman smashed four fours and two sixes before being bowled out by Prasidh Krishna.
Shimron Hetmyer registered a late fightback with an end-knock of 52, but that did not suffice, as RR were dismissed for 159. Krishna was The Titans’ pick of the bowlers with three wickets to his name.
Sai Sudharsan stars in GT innings
Earlier, Sai Sudharsan played a flamboyant 82 to help Gujarat Titans reach 217 for 6, which proved to be too rich for the Royals.
Sudharsan’s 53-ball knock was filled with eight fours and three sixes, whereas Shahrukh Khan and Jos Buttler scored 36 each after GT were asked to bat. For RR, Maheesh Theekshana and Tushar Deshpande picked two wickets each, whereas Jofra Archer and Sandeep Sharma picked one each.
