Punjab Kings (PBKS) secured a thrilling win against Gujarat Titans (GT) in a high-scoring IPL match on Tuesday. Punjab set a massive target of 243/5 and defended it successfully, restricting Gujarat to 232/5 to win by 11 runs.

Punjab’s Batting Fireworks Set the Stage

Earlier, Gujarat won the toss and chose to field. Punjab’s debutant Priyansh Arya gave them a flying start. He smashed 47 off 23 balls with seven fours and two sixes before Rashid Khan dismissed him at 79/2.

Azmatullah Omarzai made an instant impact, hitting a six off Rashid Khan on his first ball. However, he fell soon for 16 off 15 balls to Sai Kishore, who struck again on the next ball to remove Maxwell for a golden duck.

Marcus Stoinis and Shreyas Iyer stabilized Punjab’s innings with a 57-run stand. Sai Kishore dismissed Stoinis for 20, taking his third wicket.

Punjab Accelerates in the Final Overs

Punjab accelerated in the final overs. Iyer and Shashank Singh added 81 runs in a fiery partnership. Iyer remained unbeaten on 97, while Shashank smashed 44 off 16 balls. He finished the innings in style, attacking Mohammed Siraj in the last over.

Gujarat Bowlers Struggle Against Punjab’s Onslaught

For Gujarat, Sai Kishore was the best bowler, taking three wickets. Rashid Khan and Kagiso Rabada claimed one each, but all struggled against Punjab’s aggressive batting.

Gujarat Starts Strong but Faces Early Setback

Gujarat started strong with a 61-run opening stand between Sai Sudharsan and captain Shubman Gill. However, Glenn Maxwell provided a crucial breakthrough by dismissing Gill for 33.

Sudharsan attacked aggressively, scoring 74 off 41 balls with five fours and six sixes. Nevertheless, Arshdeep Singh dismissed him, leaving Gujarat at 145/2 in 12.3 overs.

Middle-Order Efforts Keep Gujarat’s Hopes Alive

Jos Buttler and Sherfane Rutherford added 54 runs to keep Gujarat in the chase. Buttler reached his fifty but soon fell to Marco Jansen for 54. Meanwhile, Rahul Tewatia followed, managing just six runs before getting run out.

Rutherford Fights Back, but Punjab Seals the Win

Rutherford fought hard, scoring 46 off 28 balls with four fours and three sixes. However, Arshdeep Singh struck again, removing him and putting Punjab on the brink of victory.

Arshdeep led Punjab’s bowling with 2/36 in four overs. Jansen and Maxwell took one wicket each, helping Punjab secure their first tournament win.
