On August 15, the Indian men’s hockey team will present a signed hockey stick to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during their meeting. In a video shared by news agency PTI, several team members, including Jarmanpreet Singh, Rajkumar Pal, Sreejesh, and Hardik Singh, are seen signing a white stick with a black marker.
Earlier in the day, Modi praised Indian athletes for their performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where India won six medals: a silver and five bronze in athletics, shooting, hockey, and wrestling. The Indian hockey team matched their Tokyo Olympics success by securing a bronze in Paris, and Neeraj Chopra became the most successful individual Olympian after winning a silver in men’s javelin throw.
In his Independence Day address, Modi extended congratulations to the athletes and expressed his best wishes to the Indian Paralympic team set to compete in Paris. He also emphasized India’s commitment to hosting the Olympics in 2036, stating, “It is the dream of India to host the 2036 Olympics; we are making preparations for that.”
