Pakistan Reportedly Plans To Oppose India’s 2036 Olympic Bid Following Champions Trophy Dispute

India’s decision to refuse traveling to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy (CT) has raised concerns over the tournament’s future, as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) insists that it will be held entirely in Pakistan. India has not played in Pakistan since 2008, and while there were expectations for a hybrid model, the PCB remains firm in its position, which could impact sporting relations between the two nations.

According to a report by GEO NEWS, Pakistan is prepared to boycott any future matches against India until India agrees to visit Pakistan. The report also mentions that Pakistan’s government plans to oppose India’s bid to host the 2036 Olympic Games, intending to inform the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that India has “politicized sporting events.”

India’s Bid for 2036 Olympics

Last week, India submitted a letter of intent to the IOC’s Future Hosts Commission (FHC) to host the 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement of the intention during the 141st IOC Session in Mumbai last year. India will face stiff competition from Indonesia (Nusantara), Turkey (Istanbul), and Chile (Santiago), with other nominations expected.

India has not yet confirmed which city will host the event, but Ahmedabad is emerging as a strong contender, with Delhi previously hosting the Asian Games in 1952 and 1982 and the 2010 Commonwealth Games. If India wins the bid, it will mark the first time the Olympic Games are held in the country.
