Having crossed the 90m mark last week in Doha, Neeraj Chopra continued the form and finished second on Friday, at the Janusz Kusocinski Memorial 2025 in Chorzow, Poland. This time around, he failed to cross 90m, Chopra recorded 84.14m as his top attempt.

The initial list also included Roch Krukowski (Poland), Julian Weber (Germany), Anderson Peters (Grenada), Marcin Krukowski (Poland), Cyprian Mrzygłód (Poland), Artur Felfner (Ukraine), Andrian Mardare (Moldova).
Neeraj Chopra was the lone Indian competitor in the competition. Kishore Jena competed in the Doha Diamond League but missed the Polish competition. Arshad Nadeem was also not present, and will compete at the next Asian Athletics C’ships.
In their third throws, Weber continued his lead, with 83.72m and Peters was second with 83.24m throw. While Neeraj’s third attempt was illegal and he was at third place because of his second attempt.
Strong Finish by Neeraj Chopra in Final Attempts
Neeraj’s fourth throw was also disqualified and then he achieved 81.80 in his fifth. In his sixth, Neeraj Chopra achieved 84.14m to surpass Peters and move to second place. During that time, The Grenada’s athlete’s last throw was declared as disqualified. In his last throw, Weber achieved 85.11m to stay on the top and achieved gold as well.
In Doha, while breaking the 90m mark for the first time ever, Neeraj Chopra had to content himself with silver as Weber achieved 91.06m in his final attempt. It was also the first time that the German achieved beyond 90m.
How the Competition Unfolded: Throw-by-Throw
Neeraj’s opening throw was disqualified, and Julian Weber came into the fore with his first throw, achieving 80.77m. Anderson Peters secured second place after his initial throw, achieving 80.72m.
Then Chopra collected 81.28 in his second effort to move to second position, and Weber later launched his javelin to 86.12 to take pole from Anderson, who collected 81.48m in his second throw. Then, after their second effort, Weber was leading, followed by Peters and Neeraj Chopra.
