MLA Alleges Exploitation Behind Prithvi Shaw’s Career Struggles

Prithvi Shaw, once seen as a “generational talent,” is now facing serious challenges in his cricket career. The young cricketer, who led India to a U19 World Cup win in 2018, has experienced a steep decline. Recently, he went unsold at the IPL mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, raising questions about his future.

Concerns About Lifestyle and Support

Many are questioning Shaw’s current lifestyle and motivation. Kalina MLA Sanjay Potnis accused people around Shaw of exploiting him rather than supporting his comeback.
“His game is not bad, but the people around him are of different kinds. No one is taking care of his sport; everyone is just taking advantage of him. He is alone and has to rely on himself,” Potnis told the sources.

Potnis had earlier helped Shaw by providing his family with a flat in Santacruz. This move reduced Shaw’s travel time from Virar and allowed him to focus on cricket. However, after Shaw moved to Juhu and later Bandra, Potnis claims his support system fell apart.

Poor Performance in Recent Matches

Shaw’s struggles continued in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He scored only 130 runs in six matches, including two ducks. His highest score of 40 came against Nagaland, but his overall performance has been disappointing.

Cricketing Legends Call for a Comeback

Despite his slump, cricketing legends believe Shaw can turn his career around. Former England captain Kevin Pietersen urged him to refocus on fitness and discipline.
“Some of the greatest sports stories are COMEBACK stories. If Prithvi Shaw has decent people around him who care about his long-term success, they’d sit him down, tell him to get off social media & train his absolute backside off. Too talented to throw it all away,” Pietersen wrote on X.

Shane Watson, who coached Shaw at Delhi Capitals, agreed with Pietersen. “I completely agree @KP24. Prithvi is such a precocious talent. These are all that is required for him to turn things around and be one of Indian Cricket’s biggest heroes,” Watson said.

Hope for Redemption

Prithvi Shaw‘s talent still offers hope. With discipline, a supportive circle, and renewed effort, he can regain his place in cricket. For now, his journey remains a mix of challenges and potential, with many rooting for his comeback.
