Muskan Rastogi, who was charged with killing her husband, Saurabh Rajput, along with her boyfriend, Sahil Shukla, allegedly forged a medical prescription to buy sleeping pills used in the murder. She poisoned Rajput and stabbed him three times in the chest.

Prescription Forgery Suspected in Drug Purchase

Rastogi had taken the sleeping pills from Usha Medical Store in Meerut by doctoring her husband’s prescription, as reported by an NDTV report. The authorities are now probing how she was able to get hold of the medication.

Meerut drug inspector Piyush Sharma confirmed that officials are checking medical store records of the last two years to see if the sale was legal. “Antidepressants and sedatives can be sold only with prescriptions, and medical stores must keep records of sales,” he said.

The pharmacy owner asserted that Rastogi brought the prescription on her cell phone before buying the medication. He asserted that the sale was as per standard guidelines.

Accused Display Signs of Drug Withdrawal in Jail

Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla were arrested on 19 March and are currently in custody at Chaudhary Charan Singh District Jail. Authorities at the jail have informed that both of them are showing symptoms of distress, having trouble sleeping, and refusing food and water—symptoms of drug withdrawal.

According to a jail source, PTI reported, “Muskan and Sahil seem highly restless and are not sleeping well.”

On the other hand, Rastogi has asked to be represented by a government-authorized attorney due to family abandonment. In her petition, she said, “My parents are angry with me, and no one will fight for me. I request a government lawyer to represent me in court.”

Murder Plot and Disposal of the Body

Rastogi and Shukla were accused of masterminding the murder since they were afraid that Saurabh Rajput would reveal their relationship and drug use. They killed him and then packed his body into a drum with cement to cover up the act.

The case continues to unravel as investigators delve deeper into the circumstances of the gruesome murder.
