Litton Das Opens Up About Missing Out on Bangladesh’s CT 2025 Squad

Bangladesh’s experienced batsman Litton Das discussed his exclusion from the Champions Trophy 2025 squad, stating that the choice was outside of his control, as reported by ICC. When the squad was announced on Sunday, several significant players were absent, including wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das.

After his explosive 125 off 55 balls against Durbar Rajshahi in the Bangladesh Premier League, the 30-year-old spoke openly about his omission, linking it to his recent lack of form. “The Champions Trophy selection wasn’t in my control. The selectors made the decision. They choose who gets to play. My role is to perform. I haven’t managed to do that,” Litton was quoted as saying.

Litton also recognized his disappointment but stressed the importance of looking ahead. “I believe I was somewhat upset about it. I have maintained the same mindset before and after today’s game. The day has already passed. I played a good innings, but that’s behind me. I start fresh again. I will continue to work diligently; let’s see what unfolds next,” he added.

The batter has struggled with form on the national team, failing to exceed single digits in his last seven ODI innings. His latest half-century was in October 2023, during the 2023 Cricket World Cup against India. “I received a clear message. Perhaps not from the selectors, but it is apparent why I wasn’t selected for the team. I was left out due to my lack of performance. There’s nothing to conceal about it. Basic, straightforward,” Litton explained.

Despite missing a significant tournament, Litton remains committed to enhancing his performance. “Fans will support me, but when I perform poorly, people tend to be negative. That’s not really my concern,” he stated. “I am concentrating on what I need to achieve. I haven’t been playing well, so I have to improve my game. I won’t change instantly, so I must keep trying. People will appreciate it when I start scoring runs. “
