Legendary Cristiano Ronaldo Seals Al-Nassr Win, Sets Sights on 1000 Career Goals

On Wednesday, Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 935th career goal as he helped Al-Nassr glide into a comfortable 2-0 victory against Al-Khaleej in the Saudi Pro League. Ronaldo scored a stoppage time penalty to seal the deal and further inch closer to the 1000 mark, which would establish him as the greatest goalscorer of his generation, as he is just 65 goals away from achieving what was deemed as impossible in the modern game and establish his legacy as the greatest of all time in the sport.

Al-Nassr Cruise To Victory

Al-Nassr retained possession for much of the game. The first half was goalless, but Colombian striker Jhon Durán scored with a calm finish within the box in the 75th minute, securing a justifiable lead for the home side. Al-Khaleej mounted intense pressure to level, which left the door open for counterattacks by Al-Nassr. At the end of stoppage time, the referee awarded Cristiano Ronaldo a penalty after a defender fouled him inside the box.

The 40-year-old Portuguese didn’t hesitate, scoring the spot-kick in the 97th minute to register his 935th goal in his career and secure victory.

With Ronaldo continuing to deliver at a top level and young stars such as Durán proving their worth, the team is operating at maximum capacity as the campaign reaches its conclusion. The manager, Luís Castro, praised the team’s strength and cohesion, describing the win as a reflection of their fighting spirit.

What’s Next For Cristiano Ronaldo

With Cristiano Ronaldo’s current contract with Al Nassr reportedly ending in June 2025, with a possible extension of one year, the Legendary Portuguese striker must weigh his options and decide if a further transfer is in the picture.

Fans speculate that Ronaldo could return to his boyhood club, Sporting Lisbon, for one last dance. Al Nassr prepares for a challenge with  Al Fateh next Monday, where a win could see them climb up to third in the Saudi Pro League table.
