KL Rahul’s role so far
Since joining Delhi Capitals this season, Rahul has largely played as a middle-order floater. In ten matches, he has opened only once, batted at No. 3 twice, and featured at No. 4 in seven games. Despite delivering consistent performances from the middle order, the team management feels the constant changes in opening partnerships have disrupted momentum.
Jake Fraser-McGurk’s dip in form and Faf du Plessis’ injury have left DC with limited choices, prompting the idea of sending Rahul to open as a more stable solution.
Delhi’s mixed IPL 2025 campaign
DC began the season on a strong note but stumbled after a narrow last-ball defeat to Mumbai Indians at home. Since then, they’ve managed only three wins in their last seven matches. The spin department remains reliable, with Kuldeep Yadav and skipper Axar Patel playing key roles.
