Avinash Sable bagged India’s first track and field gold at Hangzhou on the men’s 3000m steeplechase while Tajinder Toor won a gold of his own in shot put. The medals continued to pour in as Ajay Kumar Saroj and Jinson Johnson won silver and bronze respectively in the Men’s 1500m final and Harmilan Bains bagged a silver in the women’s 1500m. Sreeshankar Murali also won a silver in long jump while Seema Punia won the bronze in women’s shot put. Also, Nandini Agasara wins bronze in women’s heptathlon 800m event.
Meanwhile, after a lot of drama and uncertainty, Jyothi Yarraji was upgraded to silver medal despite finishing the 100m hurdled race third. Home favourite Yanni Wu was disqualified for false start. In badminton, the Indian men’s team finished with a silver medal after going down 3-2 to hosts China.
Earlier in the day, the Indian trap shooting team comprising Zoravar Singh Sandhu, Kynan Chenai, Prithviraj Tondaiman clinched the gold medal in men’s trap shooting. In golf, India’s Aditi Ashok grabbed a silver to kickoff Sunday’s medal rush.
