Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had to share points as continuous rain caused their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday to be abandoned. The outcome ended KKR’s hopes of making it to the playoffs.
KKR’s Playoff Hopes are Crushed with Washed-Out Match
Ajinkya Rahane’s KKR team, who were in a must-win situation to remain in contention for the playoffs, never had the opportunity to start the game because it was interrupted by constant rain. Officials finally decided to abandon the game. Having acquired just 12 points from 13 matches, KKR can now best achieve 14 points at most, which will not be enough to qualify for the next round of the tournament.
RCB Tightens Grip at the Top
RCB, however, gained points from the mutual point. This has placed them cozily at the head of the IPL 2025 table with 17 points from 12 games. The point acquisition has almost guaranteed a position in the playoffs for them.
This game was to be a majestic resumption of IPL 2025 after a break, but the weather turned into a spoilsport, much to the dismay of stadium audiences and global viewers.
